How to Cut an Apple

Using a Chef's Knife

Place the apple upright on the cutting board. Hold it steady with one hand while you make the first cut about half an inch from the core. This method is quick and doesn't require any special tools, just a sharp knife like the SolBlade 8" Chef's Knife.

After making the initial cuts, rotate the apple and continue slicing off the sides. Try to cut as close to the core as possible to minimize waste. If you get some of the core in a slice, simply cut it off. You can use a paring knife for this smaller task.

Once you've sliced all around the apple, you'll be left with the core. This method is efficient and leaves you with beautifully cut apple slices, ready to eat or use in recipes.

Using an Apple Corer

Place the apple on a cutting board. Align the apple corer with the center of the apple. Make sure it is straight to get the best cut. Push the corer down through the apple. If it gets stuck, wiggle it a bit while pressing down.

Once the corer is through, pull it out along with the core. You might need to use a knife to remove any leftover seeds or bits of core. This method can be a bit messy, but it gets the job done.

It's up to you whether or not to remove the skin of the apple. Some people prefer to leave the skin on for added nutrients and texture, while others like to peel it for a smoother bite. Whichever method you choose, enjoy your fresh apple slices!
